*NothingElse intensifies*

Hey there, folks! Ivan here with some updates (and with the almighty “sorry for my bad english” apologize)!

Today I’m going to talk about the new Android version of NothingElse, a game developed last year. NothingElse talks about Phillip, a kid with some family issues.
The Android version features some improvements (fixed some bugs) and, obviously, works better ’cause the game was initially meant to be for Smartphones and Tablets (just look at the puzzles, they ASK to be touched phisically!).

The story behind Android NothingElse (Skip this one if you’re not interested)
Welp,
NothingElse was already on Google Play the last year. It had a big problem, though: the game keeped crashing if played for more than a minute.
Sadly, I lost the old Android version project a long time ago and canned the idea of fix that version. NothingElse was on something like 50 devices and I thought noone else would have gone for the download.
Then, something happened: a multitude of comments (asking for a fixed version) were there, on the Google Play page. I felt really guilty.
So, I made a new Android version of NothingElse and godspeed published it as a new game.

BUT LET’S GET BACK TO BUSINESS!

NothingElse is a game I really enjoyed developing and it’s something quite expandible…
…Aaaaand that’s exactly what I’m going to do with it: expand it with three more stories, for the joy of fans that wants it (and for my joy, of course)!
Every new story will feature the same morbid atmosphere of the first Chapter. They will inheredit the gameplay, with slightly different changes.

Anyway, I have to choose between two “formats” to publish the new chapters:

– I can update the current app of NothingElse, adding the new scenarios;
– I can publish the chapters as different apps;

Being doubtful, I will take time making the new chapters for you to enjoy. Let me know what “format” You like!

Forgot the link!
You can find “NothingElse – A macabre tale” on Google Play.

That said, I’m going: that’s all for now, folks =)

Collapsing, Colliding!

Hey guys, long time no see! How’s going?

I’m fine, more or less: the Global Game Jam was fun but incredibly frustrating for my soul: it’s a long thing to explain, so I’m just going to say that right now I really need to develop something new.

Welp, Let’s skip to some interesting things:

Maybe You want to ask, “Where is PLE?”. That’s a good -and legit- question, indeed. I’m revisiting (again) the game: I rewrited the script, revisited the game features and stuff like that.
Why, do You ask? Because I hate myself, I think!
Jokes aside, we’re now working (Me and Bellini Virgil) on PLE with the help of a new team (You probably know this Team but for now it’s a secret) using something different from Game Maker Studio.
Sadly, GMStudio doesn’t allow us to work professionally with 3D games. We’re now working with Unity 3D, that cute little things everyone’s using (really, at the GGJ I was the only one using Game Maker).
We’re going to do something great with PLE, but -sadly- you all have to wait longer that expected.
And that’s all You need to know about PLE: let’s skip to something new!

Bellini is developing his first solo Game and the other team is working on an Update of their new Android game: I’m using this time to make Unity my little slave (I hope).
Like I said at the beginning, I REALLY need to develop something new. Something by myself, like all my other games (with the exception of Calm Time).
Right now I really need feedback from my fans: my soul is splitted in two, with one part trying to reach “Imscared V2” and the other trying to reach “Collapse, Collide”.

…Collapse, Collide? Yup, after all that game was “Experimental”: I have the Real “Collapse, Collide” stuck in my head and, I assure you, that thing wants to be developed.
I really don’t know what to do: If you want to, let me know with a comment!

In any case, thanks for all the support until now: You’re all great, guys!

We wish You a merry Christmas!

Hey there, folks, I’m here again!

A lot happened since my last post (That was like two months ago, sorry for the disappearance) and I really want to keep this blog alive from now on.

So, taking things from the start:

The IndieGogo campaign (Imscared new version with Oculus Rift) failed a bit, but I’m saving the money made for the future. I really want to buy an Oculus and develop that game.

After that, me and my friend Bellini continued developing PLE – Peculiar Life Experience. The game it’s currently being developed and we can’t wait to release it (I really need to move on something else). While working on PLE, the GameJolt contest #10 popped out: my pals at RevoLab (7Days developers) contacted me to create together something cool for the contest.

Based on the “Party” theme, I came up with a concept I really loved: I proposed it to the others and then we started creating “Calm Time”, now available on GameJolt (You can also find a review of the game here and the game download here).

The game did very well, reaching 33.6k downloads with a score of 4.6/5!
The week of development was fantastic: I had to work on the concept, the script, the sound and the 2D graphics. Working with RevoLab and Bellini was awesome.

Then, like a bolt from the blue, Paul Hack busted in asking for an Interview: believe me, that guy is great.
You can find the interview here!

And that brings us to, well, today. I’m working a lot on PLE, fighting my own demotivation about personal stuff. I hope to realize something great with this one.

That’s all for today, folks: stay tuned for more updates on the Facebook page!
Merry Christmas, everyone!

IndieGogo, Imscared and the Others

Hi everyone, how’s going?

These last two weeks passed at full speed in front of me: a lot of things happened. I’m really thinking about leaving my iOS developer job because it won’t pay and it rob me of a lot of time (time I could use developing my games). At this very moment I’m sticked to three projects I really want to see  completed until the end of the year.

But, before talking about them, I want to talk about the new version of Imscared I’m currently working on. Take a look at this link:

The “mission” is to create a new Imscared, filled with new areas and 4th wall breaking events. The new game will be playable with or without the Oculus Rift (main cause of the funding request), and it will probably be playable on Mac and Linux too (don’t put your hand on the fire for Mac and Linux ports, I just THINK I can do it and I’ll do everything to accomplish this task).

Although, to see this dream of mine complete, I need help from all the fans, developers and gamers who liked or loved Imscared – A Pixelated Nightmare.
Your help is necessary: I understand (and trust me, I really can) that a lot of you can’t help me with fundings, so it is ok just to help me spread the word about this campaign of possible!

Help White Face shine in this new and unique form of fear!

That being said, let’s talk about the other projects I’m currently working on: “Peculiar Life Experience” and “Fireworks”.

The first one, “Peculiar Life Experience”, is a brand new horror game I’m working on with a friend of mine, Bellini Virgil. I’m trying to make it really well polished and intriguing (and well, I think I’m doing a good job this time). The game will be longer than my other works, so expect a good Horror experience (also, if the fundings for the Imscared campaign goes well, Peculiar Life Experience will also be Oculus Rift compatible).

The second project is Fireworks, with David Xig as the story writer. Some of You know a bit about this one (his wip page is still on GameJolt).
This one is a platform game that I want to see finished one or two weeks before New Year’s Eve (you can find a really old teaser in the WIPs section of this site).

So, we have three projects currently going that I really want to finish in this year (and Hell, I can do it).
With me good luck, pals! =)

Ordinary post, Ordinary Hell

OrdinaryHellHi everyone, my name is Ivan.
I develop games. Weird games, I have to say: at least most of them.
I’m italian and I live in Rome, ergo sorry for my bad english: I’ll do my best to be comprehensible!

I’m starting this devlog to get in touch with other developers and/or fans of my games: it’s my first time doing a totally english blog. Welp, it’s funny indeed.

So, what can I say: my development tools are

  • Game Maker Studio for Programming;
  • FL Studio 10 for music and SFX;
  • Paint and GM for graphics;
  • Tobacco for the soul

I’m also pretty good with ObjectiveC.

The site is really simple: You can see my completed Works in the “Games” section. Also, if You want to look at the Work in Progress, there’s the WIPs section!

You can find all the infos and links on “About”. There’s also a Donation section, but it’s up to You to go in there or not!

I hope You will all enjoy my games. See you the next time!
